From Bread and Booze to Biofuels

From the bread base of your favourite carry out, to the fermentation process of your evening pint, these miraculous organisms are now being used to produce fuel for your car.

Could we be on the brink of a revolution? Could we use yeast to solve the environmental issues of the 21st Century? From the ancient Egyptians to the modern day, yeast has been an essential element of our technology and we are continually finding new uses for some of the 1500 species.

Marty will ask his audience to help make bread, brew ginger beer (and taste the results) as well as exploring all the explosive properties of creating Carbon Dioxide. Expect pops and bangs, audience participation and unlikely experiments.
