Blood Cells
Did you know?... A few drops of blood contain 1 billion red blood cells. Their bright red colour comes from a protein chemical called haemoglobin.
In the bloodstream, red blood cells will live for around 120 days. If they are stored outside our bodies they can live for up to six weeks, but they can be frozen for approximately 10 years.
Each individual blood cell takes about 60 seconds to make a complete circuit of the body.
