The Milky Way

Did you know?... Our own galaxy, the Milky Way consists of at least 200 billion and maybe as many as 400 billion stars.

This may seem like a lot, but our neighbouring Andromeda Galaxy contains around one trillion. The exact number of stars in a galaxy is difficult to measure as some stars, known as dwarf stars, have such a low mass as to be almost undetectable.
