Power from the People is a brand new touring workshop designed to tie in with NVA's Speed of Light project.
For three weeks in August 2012, NVA’s Speed of Light will transform Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh through a series of night-time events as part of Edinburgh International Festival. Walkers and runners will activate equipment partially designed to harvest energy, animating the hillside with trails of patterned light.
In this interactive workshop we’ll be exploring some of the challenges this project presents and asking your class to help us as we develop the technology needed to generate enough energy to light the landscape. Pupils will work with dynamos, understand how they make electricity and look at ways in which we can generate green electricity. www.speedoflight2012.org.uk
Speed of Light is one of four projects commissioned by Legacy Trust UK’s Community Celebrations programme - which aims to build a lasting legacy from the UK’s hosting of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
