How We Are Funded

Edinburgh Science Foundation is the registered charity that supports the work of the Edinburgh International Science Festival and its schools touring programme, Generation Science.

It costs around £1.2m each year to deliver our festival to audiences in excess of 75,000 people and our school programme to over 60,000 children.

Our income comes from a number of sources; public funding, commercial sponsorship, grants and trusts, and private donations. Below is a breakdown of our income for 2009/2010.

We are committed to making our festival and school shows accessible to all and a significant portion of our fundraising enables this.

If you share our commitment to inspiring, encouraging and challenging people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and understand the world around them then you might like to consider supporting us.
