About the event
As Scotland's (prolonged) Year of Coast and Waters continues, join us as we learn how to keep up with our beautiful country's seas and coasts in an ever changing landscape!
Highlighting diverse learnings and experiences from people living and working by the shore, Coastal Knowledge showcases local history, science and art to emphasise the importance of these communites in making Scotland resilient in the face of climate change and connecting us to the rest of the world.
Log on and experience the Scottish coast for yourself as we:
- Make a virtual travel along the Scottish coast and its diverse coastal communities in our online Coastal Knowledge exhibit. You can add your own images, stories, movies, poems or artworks about the coast to the website too.
- Explore Edinburgh’s coastal community of Granton with the Curious Edinburgh walking tour showcasing Granton’s industrial and fishing history, downloadable on mobile phone. We recommend allowing 2-3 hours for this experience (or 60 minutes by bicycle).
- Make a stop at granton:hub, the arts and community centre based in the historic Madelvic House. During the Science Festival they are organising an exhibition of local artists with artworks incorporating recycled material. Open 11am to 6pm, Friday 9 to Sunday 11 Jul.
