About the event
James Clerk Maxwell, Scotland’s greatest physicist, made massive leaps forward in our knowledge and understanding of electricity, magnetism and light.
Join us for a walking tour of Edinburgh City Centre, taking in the homes of James Clerk Maxwell and some of his closest friends and relatives, his school, university and the churches he attended, and other points of interest along the way.
An interactive version of the walk is downloadable onto your mobile phone or tablet as a free ‘app’ courtesy of Global Treasure Apps.
This tour has been developed by our Festival Friend and Supporter, The James Clerk Maxwell Foundation.
This self-led walk begins at St John’s Church at the junction of the western end of Princes Street with Lothian Road. We recommend you allow at least 90 minutes for your experience.
