Q. How can I get a copy of the Festival brochure?

A. The 2019 Edinburgh Science Festival programme can be downloaded on the Festival webpage.

You can pick up a printed copy of the programme at our box office in The Fringe Shop on the High Street or at any of our main Festival Venues. We also distribute copies at various venues in and around Edinburgh including train stations, libraries, cafes, bars ad pubs.

Please note that we do not maintain an annual Festival brochure mailing list.

If you would like a copy of the brochure in a different format please contact marketing@scifest.co.uk. Please note that we may require additional time to produce these materials.

Q. How can I book tickets for events?

A. Tickets for 2019 Festival events are on sale now. They are available to purchase on our website, by calling our booking hotline or by visiting the box office in person. Visit our Booking Information webpage for full details on how to book tickets.

Q. Where are the Festival venues?

A. Science Festival events are held at various venues in and around Edinburgh and the surrounding area. Our main Festival venues include City Art Centre, the National Museum of Scotland, Pleasance, Summerhall, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Dynamic Earth.

Venue listings also include information on how to get to each of our venues. Many of our venues are in the city centre and are easily accessible on foot or by public transport. Q. Are there any free events at the Science Festival?

A. Yes, each year we have a wide selection of free events available in our Festival programme, this includes a variety of exhibitions and drop-in activities as well as bookable workshops and talks.

 

Q. How long do events last?

A. We offer events in a wide variety of different formats, from drop-in exhibitions and activities, shows and performances, talks, discussions and debates, so the length of events varies. 

Many of the events within our children and families programme are drop-in so you can choose how much time you would like to spend at them. We recommend that you allow 4-5 hours for a family visit to City Art Centre and shows and performances will usually last between 45 minutes to an hour.

Discussions and debates within our adult programme usually last for 90 minutes including time for a Q & A session. Events with additional components and events where food and drink is served will usually last longer.

Please check individual event listings to confirm event timings and duration prior to booking.

 

Q. Do you admit latecomers?

A. While timings on drop-in activities are flexible, there are some shows and performances or talks and discussions within the programme that start at a set time. Out of consideration for audience members, speakers and performers we do not admit latecomers to these events and no refunds will be given, so please ensure you arrive in time to get to the venue before the start time of the event.
