About the role:
Edinburgh Science Festival is recruiting for committed, confident Event Managers to work at one of the biggest Science Festivals in Europe.
These are exciting and busy roles, offering a unique opportunity if you are looking to pursue a career in events or hospitality management. You will be responsible for the smooth running of all Edinburgh Science Festival events taking place within your allocated event space. You will act as a representative for the Science Festival within the event space for all customers, venue contacts and relevant performers/speakers.
You will have an organised and proactive approach with the ability to work confidently unsupervised. With exceptional customer service skills, you have previous events management experience along with some experience managing or co-ordinating staff. Keeping a cool head when the unexpected arises and having the ability to quickly build a rapport are essential, as is working to high standards under pressure and remaining flexible in all situations. Previous experience of working with diverse audiences including children and families, or working in a festival environment is highly desirable, as is training in First Aid.
All roles will be positioned in one of our venues around the city; either working on our family or adult programme. Full training will be provided in advance.
You should have flexible availability and should expect to work throughout the festival run. Shifts may be allocated at more than one venue and will include weekend / evening work.
