£10 per hour Festival dates with training beforehand
About the role:
As a Floor Supervisor with Edinburgh Science Festival, you will form part of the team ensuring the high-quality delivery of workshops and activities that make up the Festival’s family programme at our flagship venue – City Art Centre. We also have opportunities for this role in our other venues – National Museum of Scotland and Summerhall.
This supervisory position will be responsible for a group of workshops taking place within one of our family venues. You will lead a team of 7–15 Science Communicators working on their events throughout the Festival run as well as 1–2 Front of House members working on these events. You will be responsible for:
- Oversight of all aspects of your designated events and their physical space
- Ensuring workshop spaces are being delivered to Edinburgh Science’s standards
- Having the appropriate numbers of staff and are delivering high quality science communication and customer service
You will have confident communication skills, a passion for excellent customer service and be a quick learner, comfortable with scientific information. You will have an outgoing, friendly approach and enjoy working with children aged 3–15 and their families. Experience in Science Communication with family audiences in a festival setting or science centre context is essential. Some supervisory or team management experience is highly desirable. A background in theatre or performing arts would also be beneficial and a flexible, energetic approach to managing small teams is key.
You must be available to work full-time for all dates for training and during the Festival period.
