Skills and Learning Manager
£29,693 pro rata per annum (pay award pending) FTC, 1-year term w/possible extension
Duration: Fixed-term contract 1-year initially, with possibility of extension
Work hours: Part-time (21 hours per week)
Work location: Edinburgh (flexible/hybrid working available)
About the role:
We believe in inspiring, encouraging and challenging people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and understand the world around them.
This is an exciting and relatively new post, responsible for developing and delivering a range of engagement and learning activities that will help build our reputation as a training organisation.
Building on our current framework you will provide a clear skills development pathway in science engagement, from entry level through to master practitioners, that is of value to Scottish science engagement practitioners active on national and international stages.
The role will also lead the delivery of a Festival Delegate Programme during the 2023 festival (with the aim to provide further opportunities for professional development, networking and ideas exchange) as well as CLPL (career-long professional learning) opportunities for teachers as part of our Primary school touring programme, Generation Science.
- You will have confident communication skills, a passion for excellent customer. You are a highly motivated self-starter; you’re probably degree qualified (ideally with a STEM degree/background) with demonstrable experience in skills development, community learning or organisation development. You have knowledge and experience of learning and development methodologies, including e-learning resources and technologies.
- A natural, confident, communicator and networker, you make connections with people at all levels and influence them through your emotional intelligence and well-honed negotiation techniques. You have previous experience developing meaningful partnerships and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
- You will have the positive and flexible approach needed for our dynamic organisation and be willing to roll your sleeves up and get involved in some of the smaller but important detail to deliver the end product to participants, so you have a flair for budget management, administration and systems to help you do this!
