A second Cyber Quest for team EdSciFest
Posted: 19 April 2017
It’s been a busy month for the Edinburgh International Science Festival team – as well as delivering our annual Festival in Edinburgh, we also had a team out in Abu Dhabi working on the Cyber Quest festival.
Cyber Quest is an initiative by the National Electronic Security Authority (NESA), designed to encourage and motivate the next generation of cyber security professionals. The Cyber Quest festival went live on the 9 April for four days in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The event was open to schools, universities and the public and combined a high-level capture the flag completion testing cyber security skills with a program of wrap around interactive workshops.
This is the second year that a team from Edinburgh International Science Festival has been involved with the project, and in 2017 we provided 12 workshops for the event. Cyber Quest 2017 was extremely ambitious and increased in scale four times from activities the previous year.
Gill Duncan, Senior Projects Manager at Edinburgh International Science Festival said: ‘Cyber Quest is a unique challenge designed to spark middle and high school students interest in IT, networking and cyber security. It was fantastic to return to Abu Dhabi and once again be part of the team delivering the festival, which marks the culmination of the annual completion with an impressive and dynamic event.’
This year’s event was a great success and generated positive local coverage including this article in The National the major paper in Abu Dhabi.
