Special Projects

In addition to delivering Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival and a variety of education programmes in Scotland, we regularly take on additional special projects across the UK and internationally.

When working on these projects, we bring extensive expertise in creating and delivering interactive and entertaining educational experiences and provide content that is engaging and inspirational. We can also support partners with programme curation and event logistics and production, as well as providing Science Communication and event specific training for local staff.

Further information on some of the projects we have worked on is listed below – click on the titles on the left to find out more about each project.

Rock the Lab, Scotland

In the summer of 2013, we joined forces with National Museums Scotland to deliver a brand new project called Rock the Lab. We created a special series of science busking activities for the project to highlight the science behind hedonism. We also recruited and trained a team of performers to deliver the activities on a tour organised by the museums team.

Rock the Lab toured music festivals around Scotland, inviting participants into the specially designed Sin Academy. The new activities premiered at RBS Museum Lates: Dino-Night in the National Museum of Scotland and at Robots Live at the National Museum of Flight, before touring to the Hebridean Celtic Festival, the Wickerman Festival and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. In addition to these festival appearances, the Rock the Lab team also made local community appearances in Tarbert, Uig, Great Bernera, Stornoway, Dumfries, Inverness and Strathpeffer.
