Science is at the heart of many of the biggest challenges and opportunities we face. In this highly technological world, a lack of scientific literacy can cause people to feel excluded or to be vulnerable to misleading ideas that can cause poor health and wellbeing, environmental and safety choices. People need evidence-based knowledge to make informed choices.
Furthermore, Scotland is facing a skills gap in STEM and digital industries. There has been a rising tide of students choosing not to continue with STEM electives. We need to inspire children early on and link STEM subjects to real world challenges and opportunities beyond the classroom.
With 30 years’ experience, Edinburgh Science is a leader in the field of creating and delivering unique experiences in the informal learning environment. We are an ambitious organisation and we currently engage with around 250,000 people every year, through our Festival and Learning programmes in Scotland. We simply could not achieve this without the support of our funding partners. Their financial support goes directly towards delivering high quality engaging events for audiences of all ages through an annual Festival and towards the delivery of our schools touring programme.
You can help us to benefit people across Scotland and in return, Edinburgh Science can create a bespoke package to support your priorities whether you focus on STEM education and increasing Scotland’s talent pool; promoting your brand to a large audience; having national reach; community engagement in Edinburgh; or entertaining clients with unique events.
We must ensure that everyone is able to develop the confidence and understanding required to fully engage with STEM, as it impacts on all employment types and careers and affects our daily lives.
