The NetZeroToolkit is a project that came out of the Climate Opportunity Ideas Factory. Businesses work through eight comprehensive and scientifically sound steps that will build their toolkit. They will then commit to making meaningful changes that arise from this process setting themselves measurable and achievablve targets and this will support to play their part in combatting climate change. The toolkit will enable and help businesses to reduce their environmental impacts in line with the United Nations Environment Programme targets which call for a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of 30% by 2025.
The aim is to attract 150 sign-ups to The NetZeroToolkit in the first year. This will be launched as a national campaign for mass action amongst businesses of all sizes which will be given added impetus and urgency by the staging of COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021.
The objectives of the project are to:
1. raise awareness of the need for businesses to quickly reduce their environmental impacts in support of national and international sustainability targets
2. build momentum for a national campaign that enlists many businesses
3. make it easy for businesses to measure, plan and deliver these changes by providing online tools, instructional events and workshops, and where needed referrals to expert service providers
4. rapidly and permanently reduce the environmental impact of Scottish businesses
