Next year's #EdSciFest will take place Saturday 9 – Sunday 24 April. Our Call For Ideas is your opportunity to get involved and share your Festival ideas with our Creative Programming Team.

On this page you'll find all the information you need to find out more about what we're looking for, how to submit a proposal to us and who to get in touch with if you have any questions.

About Us

The Edinburgh Science Festival is the world’s longest running public celebration of science and technology. We’ve been delivering the annual Edinburgh Science Festival since 1989, and in collaboration with more than 80 partner organisations each year we create and curate a vibrant and varied programme of events and experiences as part of Edinburgh’s Festival calendar.

The Festival delivers events and experiences for the full spectrum of audiences in a variety of ways, from immersive workshops and hands-on activities, to discussions, exhibitions, installations and more. We are passionate about events which highlight the connectivity between science and society, the relevance of science in everyday life and events which draw on interdisciplinary approaches blending science, the arts and creative practices.

Our Festival Visions & Theme

Fifty years since James Lovelock first referred to his revolutionary Gaia hypothesis in print – drawing public attention to the interconnectedness of the deleciate ecological cycles that recycle the limited resources that are essential in keepin gthe planet healthy and supporting sustainable life on Earth – the 2022 Edinburgh Science Festival programme is all about the power of circles and revolutions.
