The Youth Consultation Group is selection of talented 12–18 year-olds who work on ideas and making decisions to help the Festival connect with their generation.
Created at the end of 2017, the group has assisted in the creative development and delivery of events at the 2018 and 2019 Edinburgh Science Festivals.
In 2018 the team worked on innovative events and fresh experiences which are relevant to them and the upcoming world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The group created and ran several events, including a hands-on crime scenario called Escape the Fake, where they joined the team of experts to analyse the staged crime scene and escape the pathology room.
In 2018, the Youth Consultation Group was supported by Scotland’s Year of Young People.
In 2019 the group created and delivered another event for the Edinburgh Science Festival called Generation Space. Generation Space took over one of the rooms at Pleasance, and was packed full of space-themed activities, such as reaction-time testing, space food and extreme environments.
This animation was created by of our Youth Consultation Group members Amelie, all about her involvement in the Science Festival.
